PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The EKG Tech training prepares students to set up and administer electrocardiograms and stress tests, prepare patients for Holter or ambulatory monitoring, edit and deliver final test results to physicians for analysis and transcribed physician interpretations.
The course will prepare the students to sit for the certification examination from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) – Certified EKG Technician (CET) or the accredited American Medical Certification Associations (AMCA) – EKG Technician Certification (ETC).
Program Objectives:
This training program will focus on preparing the students in being competent to
- Conduct electrocardiogram (EKG), phonocardiogram, echocardiogram, stress testing, or other cardiovascular tests to record patients’ cardiac activity, using specialized electronic test equipment, recording devices, or laboratory instruments.
- Explain testing procedures to patients to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety.
- Monitor patients’ blood pressure and heart rate using electrocardiogram (EKG) equipment during diagnostic or therapeutic procedures to notify the physician if something appears wrong.
- Obtain and record patient identification, medical history, or test results.
- Monitor patients’ comfort and safety during tests, alerting physicians to abnormalities or changes in patient responses.
- Demonstrate safe and effective use of equipment and supplies used cardio-related testing
- Demonstrate proper recording of test results
- Demonstrate proper monitoring of patient vital signs during tests
To be eligible for admission, a prospective student must meet the following requirements:
- Be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Complete the application and pay the $ 150.00 application fee.
- Provide the $500 down payment to hold your seat.

Weekends: Saturdays: 9 AM – 3:00 PM
